• There’s so many people to thank so we’ll keep this post as simple as possible….. Although there’s the final release (no.56 – Dulcidrone – Lus Mór) to come we’d like to take this opportunity to say a massive thanks to everyone who has contributed, supported, listened and chatted over the past 4 years.

We’ve had a real blast with toneburst and are so honoured to have worked with and gotten to know so many inspiring, amazing artists. Every moment of the whole experience consistently blew us away and will continue to do so. The thought of people from all over the place enjoying the objects & artefacts brings so much joy. Thank you all so much.

A huge thanks also to Chester Winowiecki for his continued commitment and work with greentone. We really couldn’t have done things the way we wanted to do them without his involvement and we’re so grateful for everything he has done to help.

Stay tuned for some droning dulcimer, graveyard gongs, whining whistles and other things sometime in the Autumn and until then take care.

For beginners looking for a challenge, and for advanced quilters who want to regain their “beginner’s hand.”

    How to use this collection:
Although we were careful to order these patterns in a way that builds on previous concepts and techniques, all of them employ relatively simple methods anyone can learn and adapt for their own quilting practice. Try these patterns in any order you please.

If you get stuck, put down your thimble, make some tea, and relax. When you do come back, we suggest you try another pattern.

    Materials used:
Max/MSP, physically modeled instruments, pincushion pianos, folded mallets, and found fabrics.

    T. Hands thanks:
Gladys, Opal, Viola, Greta, Annalise, Helga, Trudy, Patricia, Beatrice, Wanda, Candice, Josephine, Mel, Gwen, Mary, Judy, Chicken, and all the fine people in the East Bay Ruby Quilters. “Darn tough.” 🪡☠️

Wooden instruments converse with electronics. Shouts get lost in the
electricity. Recorded in winter 2022 in stereo.

For the hairy side, I want to thank the following for their fabulous
contributions. In order of appearance: Ironnatokoniiku, who delights us with exquisite daxophone playing, and He_lium, who saws the branch with a prescription of Peradam/Benjolin. SqrtSgl, who passes networks of noise through filters. Raoul van Herpen, who brings some sanity back with his keyboard, and finally Claude Aldous, who brings all the lyricism of his free drumming.

For the dark side, Jonathan Deasy ingested all this material to create a cybernetic drone that hints at a lost world like an echo in a dream. With his sensitivity, he transports us to a slowed-down world that is both beautiful and haunting.
